The Hopkinton Public Librarycontains special collections relating to local history and genealogy. These collections include a Treasure Room (TR) collection and a Local History (LH) collection.

Hopkinton Library’s Treasure Room Collection

The Treasure Room (TR) collection includes manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, pamphlets, books, maps, and some artifacts. These materials have been collected for many years and are being indexed in a ‘Finding Aid’by Hopkinton Library’s archivist, Linda Connelly.

The Treasure Room materialsare of significant historical value and cannot be replaced. Therefore, these materials do not circulate, but are available to researchers for use in the library with the guidelines detailed in the Treasure Room Policy. Our purpose with this policy is to balance the accessibility by researchers with preservation of our historical items.

Researchers who wish to use the materials in the Treasure Room must consult with the Adult Services Librarian, the Director or a designated Staff Member. You are encouraged to make an appointment with Susan Marshall, Rownak Hussain or Linda Connelly by calling 508-497-9777 or email Susan Marshall at smarshall@cwmars.org .

Treasure Room also contains a collection of printed materials that pertain to Hopkinton and the state of Massachusetts. These items can be found in Hopkinton’s online catalog. The call number for the Treasure Room collection ends in (TR) and the items are shelved in a special location. Patrons can request to use these items inside the Reading Room of the Library.

Hopkinton Library’s Local History Collection

The Hopkinton Public Libraryalso contains Local Historycollection of printed materials that pertain to Hopkinton and the state of Massachusetts. These items can be found in Hopkinton’s online catalog. The call number for the Local History collection ends in (LH) and the items are shelved in a special location. Patrons are encouraged to browse this growing collection. However, the items may not be checked out or removed from the Library.
